Silent Auction Donations

We are looking for silent auction items for the 2012 Emmy Awards Silent Auction. If you would like to get your product or service in front of 400 media professionals, or know someone who would, contact our Chapter Office or one of our Board of Governors. Donations are tax-deductible.

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE ANNOUNCED

Did you know that students who want to pursue a career in telecommunications can apply for a NATAS-PSW scholarship? If you are living in the San Diego, Las Vegas, Bakersfield, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, or Palm Springs and are enrolled full or part time in a two or four year college or university, the NATAS Pacific Southwest Chapter Foundation, offers scholarships that can range from $500 to as much as $2500.

“Over the years, we’ve awarded over $260,000 in college scholarship to students”, said Foundation CEO Suzanne Bartole. The scholarship committee considers good scholars and places a particular interest in creative achievement.

Students should intend to pursue a career in telecommunications or some related field, and should include examples of their work, along with a completed application form by April 20, 2012.

Station Break – Good luck Luis Felipe

Luis Felipe, producer/anchor at Univision Las Vegas (KINC) has accepted a job as the executive producer for Univision San Francisco (KDTV). He had been at KINC for the past four years. Previously, he was a producer/reporter at Univision Denver, and an executive producer/reporter at Univision Amarillo, Texas.

We are sad to see Luis go, but wish him all the luck on his new journey.

Silver & Gold Circle Call for Nominations

Nominate now! We’re looking for your nominations for this year’s Silver and Gold Circles.  The Silver Circle is open to individuals who began their careers in television at least 25 years ago either in a performing, creative, technical or administrative role within our industry or in an area related to television such as TV journalism education, advertising, promotion and public relations. 

All candidates must have also made a significant contribution to Pacific Southwest Television for at least part of their 25-year career. Only current residents of our chapter are eligible. The Silver Circle was established in 1983 and 250* members have joined the prestigious honor roll.

Call For Entries Opens November 20, 2011

The 2012 Call for Entries will be out on Sunday, November 20th.  Very Important—before entering, please join or renew your membership to ensure you receive the member rate on your entries. 2011 memberships expire on December 31st, so when entering for the Emmy® Awards to be held in June 2012, you must become a member for the coming year.  You will not be able to enter online at the member rates unless you pay your membership first.  Membership renewals are $55 and new memberships are $80.

The Emmy® Awards 2012 schedule of fees is unchanged from last year.  Entries will be accepted online until January 13, 2012. DVDs must be received by January 17th. Late entries will be accepted until January 20th with an additional $25 per person late processing fee. All manual entries must be accompanied by a $50 processing fee.

December NATAS Mixers

Come deck the halls and join your professional peers for an evening of networking, happy hour and fun!  Pick the brains of past Emmy® Award recipients and speak with your Board of Governors about our newly added categories in the next Call for Entries.  Prizes to be raffled off at each mixer!

Las Vegas: Sunday, December 4th from 4 pm at Havana Grill Restaurant

Enjoy specials on drinks and the best Cuban food in Las Vegas, while mingling with your colleagues and NATAS Board of Governors.  This is an excellent opportunity to network, ask questions about how to submit your story for consideration, or just relax with your peers before the holiday season gets too crazy.  Havana Grill is located at 8878 S Eastern Ave # 100, Las Vegas, 89123-3291.

San Diego: Wednesday, December 7th from 6 pm to 9 pm at Elephant & Castle

What better way to kick off the holiday season than at a cozy pub at  the Holiday Inn on the Bay? NATAS PSW is teaming up with MCA-I San Diego for an extra-fun holiday mixer!  Our guests will enjoy Happy Hour pricing until 9 pm. Take advantage of draught beers (20oz.) for $4.50, house wines by the glass for $4.50, as well as house liquors for $4.50. Save $1 on every Starter menu item. Elephant & Castle is located at 1355 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101.
